5th Stanford Neurodiversity Summit
The Stanford Neurodiversity Summit has become a major event on the neurodiversity calendar. The 2024 theme is ‘Putting Strengths-Based Approaches in Action’.
What is the Stanford Neurodiversity Summit?
According to the organisers, “The Stanford Neurodiversity Summit is a forum for exchange of ideas about neurodiversity among all people. It is a venue where we listen to each other, especially when our views are not the same. This active listening is not just about respect, but an act to grow together as a community.”
In our experience, this really is true. There are a diverse range of opinions, but it is a learned and well considered series of sessions.
What is on the agenda for 2024?
As the 2024 theme suggests, this year’s program is full of “strengths-based” sessions such as:
Employment Panel 1. Strengths-Based Culture in the Workplace
Mental Health Panel 2. Delivering a New Diagnosis of Neurodivergence to Patients and Families: A Strengths-based Approach for Empowerment
The full program can be found at the Stanford Neurodiversity Summit website.
We’re thrilled to see this emphasis on strengths-based approach to neurodivergence as it’s exactly what we live and breathe here at Believe:ND.
When and where is it taking place?
The Summit takes place on 22-24 September, 2024. The orgnisers comment that:
“We are planning the conference with Universal Design in mind to maximize accessibility and inclusion; we want neurodiverse individuals to participate.”
We can see this is very much true, as the summit has been organised as a hybrid event allowing neurodivergent individuals and advocates to connect from all around the globe!
For those attending in person, it will take place at the Stanford University Campus. For those attending virtually, there will be access to a live stream. Virtual recordings (with a year’s access) will be supplied to both in-person and virtual participants.
How to get involved?
Registration to attend the sessions virtually is only $20 USD. It will also grant you access to the recordings from the summit for a year. You can find more information about the event, including the registration form here.
